Hlodufell
The Hloduvellir hut was built in 1970 and is located in the lava field at the southern foot of Mt Hlodufell. It comprises a large entrance and a sleeping hall with a kitchenette (gas-stove). It accommodates 15 people in bunks. Water is collected from the roof of the hut. The attractions in the neighbourhood are Mt. Hlodufell, Eldborgin in the Lamb Lava Field, Mt Kalfstindur, Mt Hognhofdi, Mt Skrida and Mt Skjaldbreid. The hiking trail across Rotarsandur to Gorge Bruararskord is popular and interesting.
The hut is accessible on foot or by jeeps or other robust 4wd vehicles from lake Laugarvatn or the Kaldidalur Route in the West. Other 4wd access tracks start in valley Haukadalur forest near the Geysir area, and from the southernmost part of the Kjolur route.

Kollumúlavatn
The refuge hut Egilssel at lake Kollumúlavatn has 22 camp beds available. svefnpokapláss. A lumber stove provides the heating and a gas cooking plates are at hand. WC and a camping site.

Bjarg
Bjarg is an old farm in the town of Borgarnes. The old farmhouse which formerly housed sheep, horses and chicken has been renovated as a guesthouse. Accommodation in a studio apartment for 4 persons with private cooking facilities and WC/shower (cat. III). Another separate space with one double and two 4 persons rooms with shared facilities (cat I). Also 4 persons cottage (75 m2) with two double rooms, kitchen and living room. All rooms have TV and wireless internet.
Bjarg is a quiet place in outskirts of the town of Borgarnes, with a beautiful view and many nice walking tracks. Convenient location for sightseeing in West Iceland. About 1 km from shops and service in Borgarnes.
How to get there (in outskirt of Borgarnes town, Bjarg is 400 m from road nr. 1):
From Reykjavík (road 1): when you arrive in Borgarnes village from Reykjavík you cross a bridge just before entering the village. Soon after the bridge you come to an intersection and you should take the right turn (road 1). Take a right turn at the 2nd street, Bjarg street (aprox 900m) and at the end of this street (aprox 400m) you find the accommodation Bjarg.
From Akureyri (road 1) or Stykkishólmur (road 54): When you arrive in Borgarnes village from the north (Akureyri) or the west (Stykkishólmur) then you come to a traffic circle. You should take the exit into the town (road 1) and take a left turn at the 3rd street, Bjarg street (aprox 1 km) and at the end of this street (aprox 400 m) you find the accommodation Bjarg.
